Tips for Insurance Industry Research

Before you start researching in the insurance industry, be aware that most information is focused on one of the major lines of insurance:

  • life/health
  • property/casualty

It is also often broken down between personal or commercial.   Although some insurance carriers and industry reports cover all lines, your search results will be more successful once you specify which line you are interested in.

For more information on common industry terms, a good place to start is David G. Sayles Insurance Services Dictionary of Insurance Terms.

And if you think insurance is all about actuarial tables and claims rates... check out University of Connecticut Law Library's collection of insurance fiction!
