Identifying Companies That Have Sponsored H1B Visas

The US Department of Labor tracks all companies who have applied to sponsore H1-B applications. You can search this data online via their H1-B Labor Certification Database.

The data is very extensive! For specific search recommendations on searching the Department of Labor's database, review our Tutorial.

Check out this list of 2008 Companies  compiled from the Department of Labor database - it includes two spreadsheets - Atlanta Area and US overall.  (note, you must log into First Class to access this spreadsheet).

Locate firms with locations both in the US and abroad.

Nexis.com

Identify companies based on parent and subsidiary location, and includes 182,000 companies, with 62,000 international parent companies.

To search these, select:

  • Find more sources > Directory of Corporate Affiliations
  • Search: Parent (country) and United States
    • for example: Parent (Spain) and United States

Foreign Chambers of Commerce

Do you want to work overseas or for a multi-national company? Consider interning or volunteering with a consulate's trade representative or a foreign chamber of commerce. Perhaps you speak their language, studied abroad or have a family connection - demonstrate your interest. Here's a sampling and remember these groups have offices in all major US cities.

  • World Trade Center of Atlanta  
      
    Internship opportunities, volunteer at an event, read the newsletter to learn about other organizations. WTC is part of a global network - check for an office in a state or country of interest to you.
  • National Association of Chinese-Americans  
      
    Bridging cultures by hosting various delegations between the U.S. and China, and taking on projects that promote business, economics, trade, culture, and education exchanges between China and Georgia. Check the Events page and newsletter.
  • Turkish American Friendship Council  
      
    Founded in 2005 to promote and expand relationships and mutual understanding through educational, business and humanitarian programs between the citizens of the United States and The Republic of Turkey.
  • French American Chamber of Commerce  
      
    Promotion of the French American business community;
    Support of French and American companies with their trade needs. They have chapters in many US cities & also offer internships.
  • Ireland Chamber of Commerce in the USA  
      
    Americans of Irish ancestry and others interested in Ireland who have come together to continue and strengthen the long-standing ties between the Irish and U.S. business communities.
  • Georgia Indo-American Chamber of Commerce  
      
    Seeks to contribute to the development and improvement of economic, commercial and financial relations between India and the Southeastern US, particularly in Georgia. They sponsor conferences & lectures.
  • American-Israel Chamber of Commerce  
      
    To increase economic development by fostering understanding, cooperation, and business relationships between Israel and the Southeastern US. They offer internships and sponsor many events. Check the Directory and Committee sections - volunteer!
  • German American Chamber of Commerce  
      
    Promotes and supports bilateral trade between Germany and the US. Private, non-profit organization that serves as the official representative of German trade in the southeastern US. Monthly events- check them out!
  • Global Atlanta  
      
    The State of GA. has overseas offices and many countries have consultates and trade offices in Atlanta. Check the Events Calendar as well as People & Companies in the News.
